It says on the right "deleted." However after doing this to eight infected files, the options greyed out again and wouldn't let me finish. At the bottom where it says "Repair, Delete, Move, Finder, Export" the only option that's not greyed out is "Export." So I highlighted a virus and the greyed out options lighted up for me to use.

I ran the full system scan, and it showed infected files. I used to use Spybot on my PC, but now I'm a Mac user so I got the free version of Avast 7.0. Quote from: snordie on September 29, 2012, 05:42:07 PM I'm new to Avast. If this is not truth, could you please provide us a screen shot with highlighted items that cannot be deleted, file permissions/owner and permissions/owner of the directory containing the files? If the operation succeeds, item in the log is marked as deleted and any following scan should not detect it, since it is not present in the file system. If the operation fails from any other reason, an error dialog should appear. If this fails from the reason the user doesn't have priviledges to do the operation, the operation is repeated and the system SecurityInterface framework requests the user to authentify self.

Once there is selected an item marked as infected, the user can delete the item, what is internally implemented as 'rm -f' call. There is no limitation, how many items can be deleted one by one or anything similar. Scan log doesn't allow to select mutliple items at once, what is unfortunatelly a known limitation and we would like to improve this in the future. I see other people have had this problem on here, but any answers that were given do not fix my problem.

So I tried to upgrade it, but it says I have the most recent version. Is it because I have the free version? I thought maybe it is the version I have and even though I just downloaded it, maybe it isn't the most recent version. I can't find anything other than this virus chest which isn't available on my version. Spybot used to have a quarrantine option, so I was looking for something like that on Avast. Under Maintenance, all I have is "Registration." I clicked on it, but I already registered my product so all that shows is my registration dates. I searched the Avast website for answers, but it says that on earlier versions, on the left of the screen, if you click on "Maintenance" there is an option to put things in a virus chest (I think was the name of it) to quarantine them. I would actually rather just quarantine them, but can't find this option either. The File or Edit menus have options but again they are greyed out and not available for me to try. Are these files I deleted actually deleted or are they waiting for me to do some function. The files I thought I deleted are still there, still marked "deleted" but it still won't let me use any options other than Export, even if I highlight the infected files like it let me before. I thought maybe it only lets you delete so many at a time. The difference between Avast Free and Premium comes down to two features: Wi-Fi Intruder Alerts and the Ransomware Shield.I'm new to Avast. We really question whether it’s worth it to pay for Avast Premium Security right now. Not because the program isn’t top notch (it is), but because you get so much with Avast’s free version.

AntiTrack costs about $70 per year, but a lot of these features can be had for free with the right browser add-ons and adjustments to your browser settings. The latter is an online feature that disguises any identifying features of your PC to prevent tracking and targeted ads, and it automatically clears your browsing data. Avast sells subscriptions to SecureLine VPN as well as Avast AntiTrack.
